The Holy Spirit
Veni Creator
Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest!
And in our souls take up Thy rest;
Come with Thy grace and heavenly aid,
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made.
To Thee the Comforter we cry,
To Thee, the gift of God most high!
The fount of life! The fire of love!
The soul’s anointing from above.
The sevenfold gifts of grace are Thine,
O finger of the hand Divine;
True promise of the Father, Thou!
Who dost the tongue with speech endow.
Thy light to every thought impart,
And shed Thy love in every heart;
Our body’s poor infirmity
With strength perpetual fortify.
Our mortal foe afar repel,
Grant us henceforth in peace to dwell;
If Thou be our preventing guide,
No evil can our steps betide.
Make Thou to us the Father known;
Teach us the Eternal Son to own,
And Thee, Whose name we ever bless,
Of both, the Spirit to confess.
All glory while the ages run
Be to the Father and the Son
Who rose from death; the same to Thee,
O Holy Ghost, eternally. Amen.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created;
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray
Oh God, Who didst teach the hearts of Thy faithful people by sending them the light of Thy Holy Spirit, grant us by the same Spirit, to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in His holy comfort. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
(From the Roman Breviary. An indulgence of 5 years. A plenary indulgence once a month, under the usual conditions, for the daily recitation of this hymn with its versicle and prayer.)

Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Ghost
O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into heaven, didst promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Thy work in the souls of Thy Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul the work of Thy grace and Thy love. Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may
despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal; the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Thy divine truth; the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven; the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with Thee and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation; the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow perfect in the science of the Saints; the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable; the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Thy true disciples and animate me in all things with Thy Spirit. Amen.
Here are two forms of consecration to The Holy Spirit. I like them both and pray them at the Feast of Pentecost.
Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit
On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body, to Thee, Eternal Spirit of God. I adore the brightness of Thy purity, the unerring keenness of Thy justice, and the might of Thy love. Thou art the Strength and Light of my soul. In Thee I live and move and am. I desire never to grieve Thee by unfaithfulness to grace, and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against Thee. Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Thy light, and listen to Thy voice, and follow Thy gracious inspirations. I cling to Thee and give myself to Thee and ask Thee, by Thy compassion, to watch over me in my weakness. Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus, and looking at His five wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood, and adoring His opened side and stricken Heart, I implore Thee, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, so to keep me in Thy grace that I may never sin against Thee. Give me grace, O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son, to say to Thee always and everywhere, "Speak Lord, for Thy servant heareth." Amen.
Consecration to the Holy Spirit
O Holy Spirit! Divine link Who does unite Father and Son in an ineffable and most intimate bond of love! Spirit of light and of truth, deign to pour forth all the fullness of your gifts on my poor soul, which I solemnly consecrate to You forever, so that You may be its instructor, director and master. I humbly ask of You fidelity to all Your desires and inspirations and a full and loving surrender to Your divine action. O Creator Spirit! Come, come to work in me the renewal for which I ardently sigh; such a renewal and transformation that it be like a new creation, all of grace, of purity and of love, with which I may truly begin the fully spirited and divine life that my Christian vocation demands. Spirit of Sanctity, grant my soul the touch of Your purity, and it will become whiter than snow! Sacred Fountain of innocence, of Candor and of Virginity, quench the thirst for purity that burns me. Envelop all of my being with your pure flames. Consume in the ardor of pure love anything in me that is impure and unholy.
Prayer for the Twelve Fruits of the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, eternal Love of The Father and The Son, kindly bestow on us the fruit of charity, that we may be united to you by divine love; the fruit of joy, that we may be filled with holy consolation; the fruit of peace, that we may enjoy tranquility of soul; and the fruit of patience, that we may endure humbly everything that may be opposed to our own desires.
Divine Spirit, be pleased to infuse in us the fruit of benignity, that we may willingly relieve our neighbor's necessities; the fruit of goodness, that we may be benevolent toward all; the fruit of longanimity, that we may not be discouraged by delay but may persevere in prayer; and the fruit of mildness, that we may subdue every rising of ill temper, stifle every murmur, and repress the susceptibilities of our nature in all our dealings with our neighbor.
Creator Spirit, graciously impart to us the fruit of fidelity, that we may rely with assured confidence on the word of God; the fruit of modesty, that we may order our exterior regularly; and the fruits of continence and chastity, that we may keep our bodies in such holiness as befits your temple, so that having by your assistance preserved our hearts pure on earth, we may merit in Jesus Christ, according to the words of the Gospel, to see God eternally in the glory of his kingdom.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit Secret of Sanctity
(I am going to reveal to you the secret of sanctity and happiness, Every day for five minutes control your imagination and close your eyes to the things of sense and your ears to all the noises of the world, in order to enter into silence of the soul. Then, in the sanctity of your baptized soul, the temple of the Holy Spirit speak to that Divine Spirit, saying to Him: ) The Act of Filial Submission:
Act of Filial Submission
O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell
me what I should do, give me Your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me and to
accept all that You permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your will. Amen.
Sequence for Pentecost
Come, Thou Holy Paraclete,
And from Thy celestial seat
Send Thy light and brilliancy.
Father of the poor, draw near,
Giver of all gifts, be here,
Come, the soul’s true radiancy.
Come, of comforters the best,
Of the soul the sweetest guest,
Come in toil refreshingly.
Thou in labor, rest most sweet,
Thou art shadow from the heat,
Comfort in adversity.
O Thou light, most pure and blest,
Shine within the inmost breast
Of Thy faithful company.
Where Thou art not, man hath naught;
Ev’ry holy deed and thought
Comes from Thy divinity.
What is soiled, make Thou pure;
What is wounded, work its cure;
What is parched, fructify.
What is rigid, gently bend;
What is frozen, warmly tend;
Strengthen what goes erringly.
Fill Thy faithful, who confide
In Thy power to guard and guide,
With Thy sevenfold mystery.
Here Thy grace and mercy send;
Grant salvation in the end,
And in heaven felicity. Amen.

Help me to replace the busyness of my life with a simpler lifestyle, so
I will focus on "the deeper things" in life and allow time for others.
Nourish my yearnings to understand and to appreciate myself;
keep me from being too self-oriented and unmindful of other's needs.
Fill me with trust in your consoling presence. Calm me when I am
anxious and troubled about many things.
Help me to have the courage to empty myself of everything that does
not contribute to the transformation of the world.
Continue to create a deep hunger for you within me. Feed me with
"the finest wheat" of your joy, peace and love.
Often replenish my weary spirit with an enthusiasm and energy that
comes from surrendering my life to you.
Be my wisdom as I search for meaning in a world fraught with pain,
suffering, hostility, and division.
Keep me hungry for you, Source of Life, so that I will always ache
and yearn a bit for you.
I hope you enjoyed the above prayers, I will be adding to them all the time. If you have a favorite prayer that you would like to add to this page about The Holy Spirit, just let me know. Thanks and enjoy the rest of the site.
