If you had a private event or escaped to a semi-deserted island to get married without fanfare or simply couldn't invite everyone on a lengthy guest list, wedding announcements can really help you spread the word about the wedding.
Most couples reserve announcements for friends and relatives who could not be invited due to budget limitations, time, or the type or location of the wedding ceremony, and it is generally considered unnecessary to send announcements to guests who were invited to the wedding but who could not attend, but if you plan on changing your address it may be a good time to send everyone a wedding announcement.

Names: Include both the bride and groom's full names, so the recipient can be sure they know who the announcement is about, especially if they do not know both the bride and groom.
Wedding Location: The address of the wedding is not necessary, but many couples will include the city and state of the ceremony, or the name of the location such as a specific resort or church especially if you choose to tie the knot far far away.
Wedding Date: This lets everyone know the special date and what will be the date of many happy anniversaries. The announcement needs to be very clear that this date has passed so there’s no confusion about whether this is an invitation or an announcement.
Home Address: This is critical information that lets your friends and family update your address and contact the couple directly to offer wedding wishes and congratulations. If there is not enough room on the announcement to include the couple's new address, it can be enclosed as a business card.
Pictures: This is a nice touch if you were married out of town at a location far far away.
Other information: Key information such as if the bride plans to retain her maiden name or if another reception is planned, should also be included, that is... if you want them at that reception.
